Social-emotional learning (SEL) is foundational to academic success and lifelong wellbeing. Regular SEL assessments help schools identify students who need additional support, measure the effectiveness of SEL programs, and create climates where all students feel safe, connected, and capable. Early intervention based on survey data can prevent more serious issues.
This template assesses key SEL competencies: stress management and emotional regulation, peer relationships and social connections, trusted adult relationships, self-confidence and self-efficacy, and sense of belonging. These align with CASEL's five core SEL competencies.
Have clear protocols for responding to concerning responses, especially regarding safety or mental health. Ensure school counselors review aggregated and individual data (if identifiable), follow up with students who indicate distress, and use trends to inform school-wide interventions. Celebrate positive trends while addressing areas of concern.
